Dividend

Income paid by the stocks to its shareholders.  In Australia usually twice a year.  Benefit of a stock ownership comes from 2 sources:

  1.  Income (dividend) they pay to the shareholders and
  2. The increase in the value of a stock (change in the stock price).

Most investors take into account dividend payments of a stock during the stock selection process.
