July quarter revenue doubles, October guide lands at US$108bn 

Nvidia reported second quarter FY2027 results after the US close on 26 August, early 27 August Sydney time. Revenue reached US$96.2bn for the quarter ended 26 July, up 106% on a year ago and 18% on the April quarter. That cleared the consensus of US$92.07bn drawn from 41 analysts and beat the company’s own May guidance midpoint of US$91bn by 5.7%.

Data Center revenue rose 117% to US$89.0bn on the Blackwell Ultra ramp, taking 92.7% of group sales. Hyperscale revenue more than doubled year on year and grew 13% sequentially. The ACIE segment, covering AI natives, enterprises and sovereign customers, rose 138%. Edge Computing added US$7.2bn, up 27%. Shipments of Hopper products to China ran below 1% of Data Center revenue. 

GAAP net income was US$59.7bn and GAAP diluted EPS US$2.46. Free cash flow came in at US$21.3bn. Nvidia returned about US$26bn to shareholders during the quarter and has roughly US$99bn left on the buyback authorisation. 

October quarter guidance is US$108.0bn plus or minus 2%, with adjusted gross margin of 74.0% plus or minus 50 basis points. The guide assumes no data centre compute revenue from China. Management put FY2028 revenue growth at approximately 70% and described the figure as supply constrained, against the 44% analysts surveyed by LSEG had modelled. Jensen Huang said unconstrained demand would run considerably higher. 

On costs, management flagged extreme pricing in memory, with increases exceeding prior expectations and rising further into next year. The Vera Rubin platform is in full production, with racks running at hyperscalers and neoclouds, and is expected to contribute about 20% of data centre revenue. 

Shares fell in after-hours trade on the print, then closed 27 August at US$227.98, up 8.74%. Market capitalisation reached US$5.49tn, a single-day addition of US$441.5bn and the second largest in US market history.
