In this episode of Virtually Live, Shannon Rivkin covers: Metrics Income Opportunities Trust (MOT) , Nike (NKE), Ingenia Communities Group (INA) and more.
00:24 – Q1: Can you advise with regards to the listed government bonds market – particularly GSBK54 and similar ones. At a current yield of ~5.3%, is it a good buy, or do you expect further downside due to expected rate raises ahead?
06:40 – Q2: Thanks for your weekly advice. Further to Anthony’s comment regarding Metrics’ latest saga – with financial reports now released, can you expand on your long-term views on Metrics and their current financial stability? And more specifically for the listed MOT and MRE funds.
Is the situation concerning to the point an investor should consider the risk as:
(a) SEVERE – cut losses now to avoid further losses or total losses
(b) HIGH – no risk of bankruptcy but capital dilution, lower dividends, very long capita recovery highly likely
(c) MEDIUM-LOW – it’s actually now good value for money and hence a buying opportunity?
15:20 – Q3: Can you please talk to your purchase and sale of NKE in the value portfolio. This stock has been on my watchlist for a few years now, and I’m wondering where you value them? How low can you see them going? Do you see any positive signs? Are you watching this one also?
18:49 – Q4: As a person 5-10 years away from retirement who has put together a reasonable sum in our SMSF and is operating in a volatile and unpredictable market (Al, private credit issues, geopolitical uncertainty, rising rates and oil etc, what is your view of going to cash to try and preserve capital and ride out the storm?
If you agree, what percentage of a person’s assets might be prudently placed in cash in such circumstances (in general terms)? I am approx. 5% cash now. One fear of going to cash to any great degree would be when to reinvest. Any general comments would be appreciated.
24:03 – Q5: Can Ingenia back out of its agreement to buy Peet if it itself is offered to be taken over by Warburg Pincus?
25:23 – Q6: How do you see banks playing out? Interested in having MVB and/or BNKS in my portfolio. Buy/hold/sell?
28:12 – Q7: Your thoughts on the Firmus Grid IPO?
